Promoting Revision through Blogging in a Second Grade Classroom
Murray (1998)
describes the benefits of using a computer to write and revise. He explains the
ease of cutting, pasting and moving text around during the drafting and
rewriting stages. Using online blogs to compose
and revise writing with a wider audience is a beneficial assignment or exercise. The
use of blogs was explored as a digital tool that allowed second grade writers
to collaborate with their peers to revise and to increase their writing
proficiency, as they progress through the writing cycle steps. Blogging can be
a powerful tool to motivate and empower students to revise their writing
without the aid of the teacher and to prepare students to provide constructive feedback
in a technological context.
